Visit the main attractions of southern Peru, mixing the cultural and adventure tourism; during this tour package you will trek into The Colca Valley and Puerto Maldonado. With this Peru tour package you can discover the three Peru regions: the coast, highlands and jungle.


ITINERARY
 

Day 1: Lima
Reception in Lima at the airport. Transfer to the hotel.

   

Day 2: Lima - Paracas
Free morning in Lima. At midday departure by bus to Paracas. Transfer to the hotel and overnight.

   

Day 3: Paracas - Nazca
In the morning transfer to the port of Paracas, guided visit to the Ballestas Islands, observation of pelicans and Humboldt penguins, then departure to Nazca.  Arrival and transfer to the hotel. Overnight at the hotel.

   

Day 4: Nazca - Arequipa
Transfer to the Nazca airport and overfligth to the Nazca Lines. Transfer to the bus terminal and departure to Arequipa by. Arrival to Arequipa and transfer to the hotel.

   

Day 5: Arequipa City Tour - Countryside
Pick up from the hotel and transfer to the Chili River and then we start going down through beautiful landscapes (2 hours). The turbulent passages (level 3 and 4) add some emotion to the itinerary. In the afternoon visit to the Countryside: Sabandía windmill, Carmen Alto, Añashuayco (sillar) and Yanahuara.

   

Day 6: Arequipa – Cruz del Condor – Cabanaconde – San Juan de Chuccho
At 3:30 am, departure to the Colca Canyon with your guide. You go up to the Altiplano going through a mountain passing the 4700 meters, before descending into the valley of Colca, visit to the Cruz del Condor, where you can see the fly of the  condors, then we continue to Cabanaconde, lunch and trek into the Colca Canyon. Arrival to San Juan de Chuccho and accommodation in a family house (basic accommodation with share toilette).

Day 7: San Juan de Chuccho - Sangalle
After breakfast, you go up to the other side of the Colca passing the villages (Cosñirhua and Malata), arrival to Sangalle and lunch. You can also relax in the pools. Dinner and overnight in Sangalle

Day 8: Sangalle – Cabanaconde – Chivay - Puno
Very early in the morning departure to Cabanaconde. After breakfast, departure to Chivay. At midday departure to Puno. Arrival and transfer to the hotel.

   

Day 9: Uros - Amantani
Transfer from hotel to the port and departure by boat. Visit to the Uros floating islands which Uros Indians have live for several centuries. Then you continue by boat to the Amantani island. After you have installed in a host family, you climb up the ruins located at the top of the island, where you see the sunset over the lake. Dinner and overnight at the inhabitant (basic, no running water and share toilette).

Day 10: Amantaní – Taquile - Puno
Breakfast and departure by boat to the of Taquile island, where local people are still living according to the ancestral customs. You climb up to the village, located at the top of the island, where you can admire the splendid landscape of Titicaca Lake and the Cordillera Real in Bolivia. After lunch, you descend the 540 steps to the port and back across the lake to Puno, where you arrive in the afternoon. Overnight at the hotel.

Day 11: Puno - Cusco
Departure by bus to Cusco, visit to Pukara, La Raya, Sicuani (lunch), Raqchi and Andahuaylillas. Arrival to Cusco after about 9 hours. Transfer and overnight at the hotel.

Day 12: Cusco
Free day to enjoy the Cusco city and overnight at the hotel.

   

Day 13: Salkantay Trek
Departure in the morning by minibus to the Mollepata village, where you start the hike to Cruz Pata where you have lunch. You continue walking to Soraypampa. Campament and overnight.

Day 14: Salkantay Trek
Breakfast; you will pass the 4500 meters to the Umantay nevado. Your efforts will be rewarded; you will discover an spectacular view over the massive Nevado Salkantay. Descend to the campament at Challway.

Day 15: Salkantay Trek
After breakfast, you continue going down gradually in a semi-tropical forest environment. You will make a stop at the Hot Springs and then you will follow the Rio Santa Teresa course, completed with waterfalls and orchids. Arrival to Sahuayaco and campament.

Day 16: Salkantay Trek
After breakfast, you continue to descent through the coffee crop, coca, and various fruit trees next time. In the afternoon, you reach TheVilcanota River and the hydroelectric, where you will continue to Aguas Calientes along the route of the railway. It is also possible to take the train on this route if you wish (optional). After 3 camping nights you will enjoy the hot water and other amenities of civilization. Overnight at the hotel.

Day 17: Machu Picchu - Cusco
You get up very early to climb up the Machu Picchu where you get to see the sunrise. You will have a guided tour for 2 hours. Then you can explore the site on your own. You walk back down to Aguas Calientes and continue on the train to Poroy, where the bus takes you to Cusco. Transfer to the hotel.

Day 18: Cusco - Puerto Maldonado
Transfer to the airport and flight to Puerto Maldonado. Reception at the airport. Here the guide will await you. He will accompany you during your whole stay. Visit the town’s main square for taking some photos of the beautiful scenery overlooking the confluence of the rivers Madre de Dios and Tambopata from Grau square. Embarkation will be at Capitania port and departure to the lodge. We will navigate approximately 40 minutes on the Madre de Dios River in a typical Amazonian boat. Arrival at the Lodge. Here we will have a welcome cocktail. Afterwards you will be handed over the keys to your bungalow and we will have lunch.

3:30pm: It gets time to have some first contact with the jungle. On this trek you will see a large variety of tropical trees, medicinal plants, insects, butterflies and other animals. Upon return we will make a small stop at a lookout. Here you can observe toucans, macaws and other species of birds upon your return for sunset. (duration: between 2,5 and 3 hours).  Returning to the lodge you can take a refreshing dip in the pool or have an exotic cocktail in our terrace- bar. You could also watch the sunset in the relaxing, tranquility of palm and mango trees at our port.

7pm: Before dinner we will go on a nightly boat trip, a little safari trying to spot the white caiman (caiman crocodilus) that lives in the river banks.

8pm: After the delicious dinner, those who wish can have some Smalltalk in our reclining seats or have some fun and make friends with other travelers in the bar. Another option is to take a bath in the pool (with bar) under the shining Amazon sky and marvel at the Cross of the South.

Day 19: Puerto Maldonado

At 5:30am we will go on a trek of about 20 min until we arrive at the parrot clay- lick. Here a minimum of five different species feeds on special clay, vital to their metabolism. It’s a truly marvelous, multicolored spectacle.

8am: Breakfast and free time to explore the splendid gardens of the lodge.

10:30am: Again we will navigate the Madre de Dios River. This time on an expedition destined to “Monkey Island” where some species of these interesting and entertaining animals live in freedom. Following another boat ride of 30 min we will enter the territory of the Tambopata- Candamo National Reserve. We will trek 5km through the dense vegetation of the tropical rainforest. Giant trees, snakes, monkeys, birds and sometimes even the illusive jaguar can be observed here

Our destination is heavenly Sandoval Lake. Its privileged settings are shared by numerous species of animals: Birds (in particular Hoatzins, Kingfisher, and Cormorants), different species of monkeys (Squirrel monkeys, Howler monkeys, Capuchin monkeys). At the lake itself we can enjoy the spectacle of Giant River Otters. Black Caimans and Piranhas (sometimes we can even observe anacondas in the areas covered by reed). This is also the habitat of the giant Arapaima, a fish of more than 2,5m, weighing in at +200kg. Traveling by canoe, the sunset in the lake is a spectacular unforgettable sight. On our return to the river we might be able to spot some nocturnal animals.

8pm: The body demands rest and food after an active day in the jungle. You will enjoy the exotic tastes of our meals, especially our desserts. If you still have energy left you can share moments of music and conversation in the bar whilst having a cocktail or enjoy the sounds of the rainforest surrounding you from your hammock.

After a long day full of activity you will enjoy the comfort of you bungalows hammocks. You can also recover with a massage by the lodges’ qualified masseurs.

Day 20: Cusco – Puerto Maldonado

After breakfast the guide will accompany you on your way back to the city. Flight to Lima and connection with the international flight.
